How Many of Me?

How many have your name?

A little bit of fun. Went to the website and typed in my first and last names. Apparently I'm the only one in the United States with that name. I guess, when my mom set out to name me something that I wouldn't share with dozens of other girls, she picked a good one! I've met plenty of Kellys, Helens, Hollys, and even Hallies (and derivations thereof) but never an outright "Helly".

And... there are 195 "Todd Knight"s and 56 "Allan Knight"s in the world. We were a little surprised to see Allan's name with such a low number, but then again, I guess the double-L spelling isn't too common in the US.

There are 177 men named like Allan's dad, and 38 women like his mom. I didn't even bother with my own parents ;-P

Then I went a little nuts and tried out a few of my friends' names (full and given, as the site doesn't take into account short forms)-- y'all have some surprisingly unique names! Even if you have a common first name, the combination with a less common last name brings your numbers down.

Except for one...
Hey, Lisa? When you go back to using your maiden name, you will join company with 6,665 other women-- and that's just in the US alone ;-)

Which is precisely why, as Allan suggested, you ought to just make up your own last name :-)

  3. Did you try me? There are apparently 11 with my name and I'm a bit surprised, like you said, given my first name. I also tried some of my friends and have quite a few who got the "1 or fewer" result. Interesting!

(Milo was included when I say "my friends," by the way. :))

Yup, sure did :-) I was quite shocked when the number came up so low, given that your last name (while I haven't met anyone else with that name), doesn't seem THAT unique, y'know? Guess it's just the combination.

Me? I tried out "Pistachio Turtle" :-D

You're right, it doesn't seem that unique, but I think that's partly because it has a couple variations that are much more common (in my experience).

That's a good point. A bit like my own last name, which is derived from the Chinese "Kuo", also spelled "Guo" and a variety of other different ways.

LOL-- he was! But I also noted that the number of people with "Turtle" as a surname was higher than I expected. That, in turn, made me think of the "Lisa Turtle" character from "Saved By the Bell"-- anyone ever watch that?

LOL Lisa Turtle -- I would never have made the connection, but I remember now. :)

New contender for Lisa's name change? :P

Ha... maybe if she liked turtles ;-)

Remember when y'all banded together (well, sorta) to find me a middle name? Maybe that should be our next cause-- finding Lisa the perfect unique surname :-D
